My favourite bands:
You can't ask this question to a music junkie, when you are deeply passionate about music, you admire and respect all genres. When you appreciate all different styles, it is hard to isolate one group or musician because they all bring something completely different and absolutely unique to the table. They can't be categorized as better or worse then another, because how do you rank things so diverse? You like a band, or a song because you connect with it, whether it be a sincere and soulful lyric or a jaw dropping, ear piercing, mind blowing shre. How you connect to the music will depend on the period you are at in your life, or even day. Your favourite today may not be your favourite tomorrow. Ill wake up in the morning to the southern bluesy anthems of Black Crowes, and run to the heart pounding heavy riffs of Metallica, then Ill go to sleep listening to a unpretentious heartfelt Guns solo. You can't pick one of those over another, there completely different, yet equally powerful and all totally brilliant.
My favourite songs:
Ugh, at gunpoint if I HAD to pick a few.. I'd say... "Start Me Up", "Free Bird", "November Rain, "Sad But True"... and the fantasy rockband Steel Dragon's "We All Die Young".
First concert:
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Last concert:
Crue Fest @ the GM Place
Best concert:
Crue Fest @ the Sleeptrain Amphitheatre
My rock fantasy:
Peering out into a chanting, roaring, hungry for more crowd of 50,000 people, in the sweltering August sun, covered in blood and sweat from the energetic and perilous crowd, along side one of my favorite bands. And I've ALREADY done it!
Why I should be the Classic Rock 101 Rock Girl:
Music is my one undying, insatiable passion. I am undeniably enthusiastic to learn, watch and be involved in this industry. Since high school I have sceduled my exams, my work and my life around getting on the road to see shows. Over the last 2 years I have shed blood and sweat, spent thousands of my own money to travel to watch, photograph or interview over 49 bands & shows. - NOT because it was my job, but rather because it was my passion. I have seen and heard and witnessed things I want to share. I am ready to take the next step and with my experience, I am the best choice for this opportunity. It's not a job, it's not a hobby, it's a lifestyle. If Vancouver's crazy enough not to pick me, I will keep doing this anyways, because I'm good at it, music consumes me, it's my passion and it's my life.
Fun fact:
After a legendary summer of concerts in 2007, Whitney got the work "ROCK" tattooed to permanently commemorate the experience.
