VICKI
Age:
53 years young
Where I live:
In the Southlands area of Vancouver
What pays the rent:
I manage a farm complete with driving the tractor, fixing fencing, plumbing, etc. as well as training horses for show – no fear, I am not a crazy horse woman!
I like:
Trying new experiences that challenge me both physically and mentally – I also love to be competitive. Learning something new each day – trivial or not, should be on everyone’s agenda.
I don't like:
Commercials that insult our intelligence like women running through the streets singing and dancing while smelling their arm pits or worse yet – inconsiderate, lousy drivers with cell phones glued to their ears.
My best feature:
My warm and genuine smile but a good portion of the Rock101 listeners may prefer my nice butt.
Feed me:
Eye watering hot curry, spicy burn your lips Mexican paella – I love to cook exotic meals with decadent desserts to share.
Drink me:
Mike’s when I am just relaxing and having a drink with friends; a smooth pinot for an intimate evening with a special person.
To work up a sweat, I:
I do pole dancing and exotic dance at Tantra Fitness – this is one of the hardest workouts I have ever tried. I just bought a pole that is installed in the middle of my living room to practice on. I am also a certified weight and aerobic trainer, love to roller blade and I am an avid outdoor person.
My favourite bands:
Pink Floyd, close runners up – Doors, Steppenwolf, U2 – depends on my mood at the time.
My favourite song:
Another Brick in the Wall (Part II)
First concert:
CCR at Maple Leaf Gardens Toronto. First concert without my mother (she was a rock fan too) was Dr. Hook at Massey Hall Toronto.
Best concert:
Rush Live at Maple Gardens mid 80s
My rock fantasy:
Okay, no laughing now – I want to do a pole dance freestyle to the rock classics on stage with a live audience, I have my music all picked out.
Why I should be the Classic Rock 101 Rock Girl:
I am not going to write a lot of BS about trying to make it in a male dominated world or that I can drink the guys under the table – instead I would be the ideal because I can relate and talk to all Rock 101 listeners with class, life experience, humour and confidence. The morning crew would get extreme pleasure teasing me as I can be naive at times (maybe too trusting would be a better word) but I enjoy laughing at myself as well. My background in “public speaking” includes working as a Labatt’s Sky team member for many years – I was a sky diver and team commentator – spoke to crowds up to 40,000 live at the Blue Jays games etc. I may not be able to open beers with my teeth but I certainly would not hesitate to convince someone else to try.
