VANCOUVER RADIO TEAMWORK INSPIRES GENEROSITY

Salvation Army Toys for Teens Day Raises Truckloads of Toys and $67,753!

(December 9, 2008 – Vancouver, Canada) Vancouver's entire radio community put aside their rivalries today and rallied together as one to raise awareness, toys and money for the Salvation Army with Toys for Teens Day.

Last week thieves broke into a Salvation Army warehouse on Vancouver's east side and stole $25,000 worth of goods destined for teenage kids this Christmas. This unthinkable crime generated a profound response from the local broadcasting community.

Vancouver's 15 private radio stations established drop zones all over the lower mainland and spent the day driving their respective listeners to donate toys for teens as well as cash. By 6pm on Tuesday – the total generated by the 5 radio clusters exceeded $67,753 (and growing) and 91 Boxes of Toys.

"The outpouring of generosity and good will over the past few days has been truly inspiring!" said the Salvation Army's Major Brian Venables. "At this time of year, during an economically challenging year such as this, it was really something to see Vancouver's radio stations come together to support the community."

Cash donations will continue to be accepted through the Salvation Army's website at: www.salvationarmy.ca.
