Two Views from the Sylvia is two original one act musical plays about the historic Sylvia Hotel, now 100 years old. The Sylvia was for many years the tallest building in the West End of Vancouver. It is also home to the first cocktail bar in Vancouver.
It was built by a Mr. Goldstein who named the hotel after his daughter Sylvia.
Originally the hotel had permanent residents. With WW2’s arrival the suites were converted into rooms to house the merchant marine. Eventually it became a full time hotel.
The first play Sylvia’s Hotel brings to life the origins of the hotel and the bond between a young Sylvia Goldstein and another legendary Vancouver character Joe Fortes.
The second play The Hotel Sylvia presents a cast of characters whose lives and loves are interwoven with the Sylvia over her 100 years.
The plays runs at the Waterfront theatre on Granville Island November 8 to 12. Curtain at 7:30 with matinees on Sunday at 2:15. For more information and tickets click here!
