Something very special is coming together for july featuring two Classic Rock mega groups. Two festivals called “Classic East and Classic West” will take place in Los Angeles and New York City. Headlining both weekends, The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. Much like Desert Trip last fall, (that featured Bob Dylan,Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters and the Who) Live Nation, the Oak View Group and CAA, is taking the same approach with The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac.
Classic West will take place in Los Angeles on July 15 and 16 at Dodger Stadium and Classic East on July 29 and 30, in New York at Citi Field. Opening for the Eagles in both cities, Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers on the Friday night. Journey and Earth,Wind & Fire will open for Fleetwood Mac on the Saturday nights.
Regarding ticket details, like the when, how much and how many tickets will be available should be online in the next several weeks. Tickets for last October’s Desert Trip festival ranged from $199 (US) for one day GA pass to $1,599 (US) for three-day passes and for best-quality reserved seating so expect similar prices.
Also, the question remains will anybody fill in for the late Glenn Frey? After Glenn’s passing last year Don Henley was quoted as saying on the BBC, ” I don’t think you’ll see us performing again, i think that was probably it”. Possibly Glenn’s son Deacon or Jackson Browne who sang at the Grammy tribute in 2016 will fill in for Glenn.
