Hi it’s Dean Hill. I love my sushi. Just ask whoever is working in Rock 101 control after my shift (sorry Scott).
I’ll eat anything from a Japanese menu except for that fermented soy bean goo that I had a bit of a problem with a few years ago. Give me the Tunas, the Sockeye, the salmon eggs and the sea urchin. It’s got to super fresh and nice thick pieces. For that experience, I found quite some time ago what I consider the greatest Japanese restaurant in North Vancouver.
So when on the North Shore and the sushi craving strikes and you probably know that feeling… here are 3 suggestions for you…….Irasshaimase!
3RD PLACE - SUSHI TOWN
In 3rd place we have Sushi Town (1227 Marine Drive North Van). It’s open late (10pm) with friendly staff. Might look busy but if you’re ordering take out you wont be waiting long.
When I really want what I consider to be an authentic sushi experience it has to be Hachi Hana at 1426 Lonsdale. Superb, generous slices of always fresh and delicious raw delights. Great service, hot sake, cold beer and since I have tried everything on the menu at least once. It’s where my daughter got hooked on sushi. Every time she’s in town we go at least once.
