The Rock 101 morning show loves to poke fun at the differences between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Mother’s Day always brings to mind, brunch, flowers, cards and maybe a Mani-Pedi. When I think of Father’s Day my mind goes to boldly coloured ties, fishing poles and maybe some cash in a card for the horse track.
Some of us have lost our fathers and this can be a very tough time. As hard as the memories are, get out and do something you know your father liked to do. Acknowledge him in your own special way.
Whatever you have planned remember, it’s not the money you spend but the time. As I get older, I like the idea of making hand made cards or even a macaroni necklace. Hell, make matching ones for both of you. I’m adding a couple of very simple ideas that you can incorporate for your own dad’s.
For the older crowd, maybe a great dad/son movie day is what’s needed….This video has some great guy movies to share with your father.
Finish it all off with a great BBQ!
Here’s a flash card game your kids can put together for dad on Sunday. Just make up flash cards with the animals on one side and the father (male) name on the other side. Let your kids draw the pictures of the animals, it’ll be a great keepsake.

How about a coupon book?
Clear away a couple of his weekly or monthly chores around the house. Make a coupon book with things like mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, clean the BBQ, take out the garbage and recycling or “Good For One Car Wash”.
One of my favourite videos: Most dads can change a tire but have you seen these newbies change a diaper? Whatever you decide to do for Father’s Day, make sure you all have fun…………Love you Dad!
