Hi It’s Robin LaRose;
Patio season is switching into gear now with the weather turning warmer and the days/nights stretching longer. Here’s some of my favourite patios I frequent, especially after time on the ocean. There’s dozens of great patios in the Vancouver but these are the ones I get to most usually because of proximity and the view. It’s all about the view,view and more view.
Lift is on the boardwalk in coal harbour downtown on Menchions Mews. It’s small, intimate and there’s a spectacular view on the upper (and lower) deck(s) of Coal harbour and Stanley Park. I prefer the upper deck personally, daytime or sunset for cocktails and apps next to the fire pit. (pic:courtesy of Lift)
The Galley is part of the Jericho Sailing Centre next to Jericho beach. The patio faces north and the view is a 180 degree wrap, from kits beach, downtown, Stanley park, north shore mountains to Bowen Island and beyond. Best view in the city, bar none. The sun shines on the patio till 9:45 late June thru late July. The Galley is serious west coast casual, kid friendly and the bevvies are cold and the nachos supreme. You can watch all the sailing action right in front and out in English Bay. The patio and beach area makes for an incredible view of the annual fireworks show (Celebration of Light) in late July. Tap & Barrel is a go to after sailing. It’s located at the east end of false creek right next to the Science Centre in the Olympic Village. You can drive, bike, paddle or walk to the T&B. (parking is a challenge) The upper deck has one of the best views of downtown Vancouver. Spectacular, to say the least. Very casual fun place to chill, meet friends, have a date. Highly recommended on sunny warm days or evenings. (pic courtesy of solusdecor )
#4 SandBar – 1535 Johnston St #102, Granville Island (604) 669-9030
The SandBar on Granville Island is always a favourite after shopping at the market. Go upstairs, sit at the bar or grab the corner table by the water. The view is awesome, the apps are tasty and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Bike, walk, drive, paddle into the SandBar for cool experience. (pic:RL)
#5 Favourite patio to chill on: driving Obsession (below) on English Bay, Vancouver – home base: Heather Marina –600 Stamps Landing. (next to more patios) pic:RL
