Hey it’s Scott Alan,
You really have to get the translation right – just to avoid confusion.
A sign on Scotland’s Isle of Bute features a Gaelic translation of the island’s name, but one word has an accent mark in the wrong place. The unfortunate mistake means the Gaelic translates into “Welcome to Penis Island.” Bute Councillor Len Scoullar says, “It makes us look bloody stupid. I’m not a Gaelic speaker but I would apologize to people who are Gaelic speakers and we will rectify it right away.” Adding insult to injury is the fact that the sign has been up for the last nine years or so.
