Four companies have received approval from the U.S. government to offer ferry service between Florida and Cuba for people authorized to travel to the communist nation. The companies, which are based in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, hope to start service in the next few weeks, and will charge less than the cost of a charter flight. The Sun-Sentinel reports that this is the first time such approvals for ferry service have been given since the U.S.-imposed trade embargo began five decades ago.
