Rock and roll is many things, but the best part?…..
It’s not ageist.
Think about it….. it doesn’t matter how old you are in the rock world…..if you can still pick up a guitar we will pay thousands and show up to cheer ourselves hoarse.
Do you think Kanye West fans will still love him when he’s 70? Do you think Lady Gaga will be relevant in her 60s? Heck no. Madonna fell off a stage recently (see the video below…it’s cringe-worthy) and her “fans” immediately called for her resignation from the music scene and cried that she was too old to be part of the entertainment world. Jeeze. Nice fans.
Today Roger Daltry (the lead singer for The Who in case you didn’t know) turns 71 and what is he doing? Getting ready for their world tour. The Who will be playing Rogers Arena next fall and chances are, the show will be completely sold out. He’s a senior citizen (and has been for 6 years) and we can’t get enough of him. Bring it on! He’s not alone….
Robert Plant – 66
Carlos Santana – 67
Pete Townshend – 69
Keith Richards , Mick Jagger, and Jimmy Page- 71
Paul McCartney – 72
Charlie Watts – 73
I’m proud to be a rock and roll fan. We don’t discard our idols because they can’t quite jump around like they used to. We show them respect and support.
Love live rock and roll.
