Well, it’s Valentines Day, so it is only fitting to give you a list of rock classics that were inspired by real people…and they didn’t all have happy endings. Love’s a bitch, heh?
Bob Dylan’s “Girl From the North Country” was written for his university girlfriend, Bonnie Beecher.
“In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel was written for Rosanna Arquette, whom he lived with in 1986.
Linda McCartney inspired Paul’s “Maybe I’m Amazed” for getting him through the Beatles’ breakup.
Stephen Stills penned “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” for Judy Collins
Pattie Boyd broke a number of hearts and inspired 2 of the great classics: George Harrison wrote “Something” for Pattie (they married in 1966), and Eric Clapton wrote “layla” in 1970 for Pattie. She ended up leaving George for Eric. Harrison even played at their wedding. Talk about not holding a grudge.
