Gary Glitter will be charged with eight sexual offenses involving girls aged 12 to 14: four counts of indecent assault, one count of “administering a drug or other thing in order to facilitate sexual intercourse,” and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 between January 31st and May 31st, 1977. He’s also been charged with two counts of indecent assault of another girl aged 13 or 14 between October 1st, 1979 and December 31st, 1980. Five allegations made by two other complainants will not be pursued due to “insufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction.”
Glitter (real name Paul Gadd) was arrested in October 2012, but was released on police bail, which extended to March of this year. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on June 19th.
In 1999, Glitter was convicted for possessing child pornography, and in 2006, he was jailed in Vietnam for sexually abusing two young girls.
