The memorial service for fashion designer L’Wren Scott took place at St. Bartholomew’s Church in Manhattan on Friday evening, and it found her longtime boyfriend Mick Jagger sharing some words of tribute and singing Bob Dylan’s “Just Like a Woman.” Jagger’s son, James, and Scott’s niece, Hannah Bambrough, both read poems, Jagger’s grandchildren Mazie and Zak read Psalm 23, and longtime Rolling Stones backup singer Lisa Fisher sang “Amazing Grace.” Other tributes came from Scott’s brother, Randy Bambrough, her friend Ellen Barkin, Sarah Jessica Parker and fashion editor André Leon. Martin Scorsese, Julianne Moore, Meg Ryan, Olivia Munn, Baz Luhrman and Anna Wintour also attended the service.
Scott died in March of an apparent suicide. She was 47. “I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way,” Jagger said in a statement released shortly after her death. “We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. . . . I will never forget her.”
